Chippendale Spring

The leaves that were once bare are now rustling in the wind with fresh greenery.

The streets which were once less eye-catching are now sprouting with bursts of flowers.

I could feel that it was Spring, yet just when you least expect, a sudden flash of Autumn or Winter would still come by. And indeed, who’s to say they were never part of each other to begin with?

Echo Point Park

Not to be confused with the other Echo Point Рthis is really just a park. Thanks to the weekend hosts who thought I might like a morning out in the sun with nature!
After walking along the trail, we then settled somewhere for an indian-style picnic.

“This is my first picnic, you know.”

“You mean, since you came here?”

“No, it’s my first picnic ever.”

The look of utter surprise on her face was amusing, but at the same time sad. It highlights how different the lifestyles in 2 countries can be. After a week of rushing around, it is possible to be so tired that you don’t even have the energy to plan outings like these to relax. Why do we work so hard?

Another story to digress – This is Sally, she was found by her current owner abandoned outside the Salvation Army, with mites and scabs all over. I wanted to cry listening to her story. Am so happy she has found a good home, with 2 other pugs to enjoy the sun and grass with.

Taking time to soak in the spring sun, walk along nature’s trails, listen to the call of the birds, talking to friendly strangers to learn their stories – ingredients for a wonderful morning. Again I can’t help but wonder – why do we work so hard, rush so much, live so little?

Lunch Outdoors

Maybe the period between winter and spring ¬†should be called… Springter.

And it will be known as the perfect season.

When the sun is shining but it’s not too warm, when the wind is blowing but it’s not too cold, when the clouds appear leisurely and you can decide to pack your lunch, sit outside your house and enjoy¬†your meal¬†watching the sky go by.

Waiting… and Waiting.

waiting for spring

Sometimes life feels like a giant cycle of waiting.

Waiting for each moment to pass,

Waiting for each day to end and a new day to start.

Waiting for celebrations, waiting for holidays, waiting for the weekends.

Waiting for milestones in life – to grow up, to graduate, to work, to meet someone? To start a family? To… ?

(Though of course, not everyone waits for the same things in life)

Waiting, with the danger of never fully living each day.

This waiting, although futile, may be just the thing that keeps us going.

For, like the only thing that sees one through the bleakest mid-winters –

Is the Faith that Spring will come again.

And so, we wait.
