Adventures in Byron Bay IV

Last one of the series.

Just before I left for the city, we had time to visit one more place in Byron: Minyon Falls.

The drive up.

The friend very kindly stopped the car for her city friend who has never been this close to a horse (outside the zoo) before.

The drive continued.

Destination.

The weekend ended comfortably with comfortable latte, and a comfortable greyhound bus ride back to Brisbane city.

Our parting was bittersweet because she’s going to start her studies in Melbourne, and we probably won’t meet again till end of this year or even next year, if ever.

Do memories make parting more bearable, or more painful?

Adventures in Byron Bay III

On the Sunday of that weekend, we woke up slightly before 6am.

“Do you want to go see the sunrise, it’s just down the road.”

So, with a pair of muddy gumboots (which, ironically were supposed to protect my feet from the mud), we walked to the road.

And wow.

After a few moments of oohing and aahing, we realised that the scenery was really good for silhouette shots!

So the poses began.

The dear friend who climbed on top of a tractor. Or a machine of some sort.

I decided to stay safely with the trees.

There’s nothing like a good sunrise to start the day.

Adventures in Byron Bay II

The Byron Bay Lighthouse / Beach Walk.

And the end of the story goes: Due to time and physical constraints (crazy number of steps!!), we did not manage to get all the way up to the lighthouse. This was my only picture of it. From a distance.

But it’s ok.

I do not regret not going to the lighthouse.

Not at all.

Adventures in Byron Bay I

This friend persuaded me to spend a weekend at her house in Byron Bay, over my first weekend in Brisbane. “It’s only a 2 hour drive away. I’ll come pick you!”

I was a little apprehensive at first, not knowing what to expect from this house, which her father apparently built from scratch!

But the assurance I got was that the place would be beautiful, with lots of potentially lovely photo spots – and that was enough to get me to agree.

I wasn’t disappointed.

The view from their living/dining area. All I could think of was resorts who would charge exorbitant rates for such a view – and they have it from their living room!
