It surprises me to know that here, school children are expected to give up their seats for not just the elderly, but all adults in general!
This must be the first time I’ve had someone wanting to give up their seat for me. The little boy was really sweet too, trying to make eye contact and then standing up when that failed to get my attention. But me, being me, instinctively gestured that it was ok and that he should sit back down. I experienced regret almost immediately as the bus made a sharp turn and I struggled to maintain my balance with a sore foot.
