Something(s) To Be Thankful For

I was washing dishes at the sink after breakfast that morning, and looking out of the window.

It suddenly occurred to me that even the view I have is something I ought to be so immensely thankful for. The fact that I can see. The fact that I have the time to stand in my kitchen and wash my dishes leisurely.

What more the other things in my life.

  1. Hello,
I was just browsing and came upon your post. A few weeks ago I was discussing the privilege that most of us have and do not really know it. I don’t presume to know all of what you felt, so I’ll share one of the dozen or so that I have had and maybe it fits.
It was in another country in a very rural location. The black river, the singular means of travel, was in high tide, over-flowing its banks due to seasonal rains. In the afternoon I used to sit at a window and watch the little children paddle home from school, usually about five small canoes each with two to four kids. I liked that.
On this day the light was probably just right. A rainbow formed, one end touching the water. It lasted about three minutes and disappeared. The indelible memory I have was a feeling “special-ness”. One with nature’s display. One had to be exactly where I sat to be able to see it all.

    Thank you for sharing yours.
