The more I read this, the more surprised I was that it was even allowed for sale in Hanoi (albeit photocopied). Kim’s story aside, there were also explicit descriptions about the political and economic failures of the Hanoi communist regime.
Overall an absorbing read about the unseen faces of war, and circumstances which play a hand in what we may otherwise call Fate.
